Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story - Auditions

Spokane Civic Theatre announces auditions for its production of “Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story,” Monday, August 2nd at 6:30pm and Tuesday, August 3rd at 6:30pm at Spokane Civic Theatre - Main Stage (1020 N Howard Street, Spokane, WA). Callbacks (if necessary) will be held on Wednesday, August 4th at 6:30pm. Director Yvonne A.K. Johnson has roles available for 10 men (appearing to be ages 18 – 50) and 8 - 10 women (appearing to be ages 18 - 50). People of color are strongly encouraged to audition. Ability to play a musical instrument is required for some roles and helpful for most. Some musicians/roles will be cast in advance based upon the complexity of the talent combination. For the audition, participants will be expected to perform a verse and a chorus from a contemporary musical or a 1950s rock 'n' roll song in addition to cold readings from the script. If you do play a musical instrument please email Yvonne at yvonne@spokanecivictheatre.com by Monday, July 5 to be considered for roles that require playing a musical instrument. Bring your own music. An accompanist will be provided. Dress for freedom of movement. Performances will take place September 24 to October 24, 2010 (Thursdays through Sundays with the possibility of Wednesday benefit performances). Buddy was a young man from Lubbock, Texas on the rise to Rock 'N' Roll stardom, promising to forever change the landscape of music. On "the day that the music dies" Buddy holly, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper fell from the sky in one of the most famous airplane crashes of all time. Featuring: "That'll Be The Day," "Chantilly Lace," and "La Bamba."
